Jens Rausch’s works aim to expose the layers of a supposed reality. In respect to his motif, the forest and forestry have become the (biographic) setting for the cycle of works which began in 2012. Rausch often uses his realistic paintings only as a starting point, to subsequently quite radically, through the destructive use of fire, open the canvas to a three dimensional scope. In this way, new conceptual spaces arise.
What we love about Jens
Experimenting with light, texture, and composition, Jens moves beyond the aesthetic in his figurative representation of nature. His keen interest in the life circles of material
as well as the transformation of one substance into another aggregated condition creates something new. His works, including “Lichtung” and “Nest” come alive as he allows elements of chance to be introduced into his fascinating process.
