Sylwia Zdzichowska

Introducing Sylwia

The impetus for action in my case aren’t other images, but the relationship to reality, texts and words. The search for answers to the question Who am I? This is done at the level of constant introspection, observing while at the same time being observed.

What we love about Sylwia

For Sylwia, seeing is perceiving. And what she perceives in the human body is artfully shown in an alluring depiction on luminous canvases. With a nod to antiquity and the art of plimpsest, it seems as though she works like an archaeologist in reverse, as her delicate portraits are superimposed on graphic details likened to vintage wallpaper. A shapely feminine form stripped and discovered. If you peek too quickly, you may miss some of the layers surrounding the beautifully embedded feminine forms.
