What we love about Jelena
What’s not been etched or lifted in the printmaking process might be more important than what’s left behind for us to see. It’s in these voids that Jelena hopes her audiences place themselves and their own remembrances. Theses selected works are primarily linocuts, but it’s the sugar lifting technique which forces the viewer to project a personal familiarity to her own reflections. The rounded print edges as seen in “Nest” and “Home” and the muted hues frame the images as television screens from yesteryear.
